SYNOPSIS
Every day, millions of French people carpool to work. Inside the vehicles, the road unfolds — and with it, lives are told, confidences are shared, tensions arise. It’s a unique, intimate, and shifting space, like a parenthesis between two worlds, where people dare to say what they keep quiet elsewhere.
In “On the Same Road”, three pairs of carpoolers open up, journey after journey. Isabelle and Valérie, former farmer and executive assistant turned factory workers, recall their past lives and question what the future holds. Claude, a retired intellectual, listens to and advises Annabelle, a young choreographer searching for inspiration. Éric and Aurélie, colleagues at very different levels of the hierarchy, engage in heated debates about productivity and working conditions.
By revealing, without artifice or commentary, how the car becomes the unlikely stage for a small theatre of everyday life, “On the Same Road” offers a raw and intimate reflection of a society in motion.
