Synopsis
As the world of music prepares to celebrate the fiftieth anniversary of Dmitri Shostakovich’s death, this film revisits the work of this genius composer.
Over the course of 50 years, he composed 15 symphonies, renewed the art of the string quartet, and created powerful and distinctive film scores. Whether in classical or popular music, Shostakovich moved from one to the other with disconcerting ease. Admired and persecuted, Shostakovich was consumed by the absurd tyranny of his time—a tragic story inseparable from that of the USSR... and of today’s Russia.

With the support of Centre National du Cinéma et de l'image animée, Région Grand Est and Strasbourg Eurométropole in partnership with CNC, Procirep-Angoa & Sacem
