Written and directed by Carole Tresca
The Eurometropolis of Metz is renovating its Opera-Theatre between 2025 and 2027.
A colossal project aiming to transform an 18th-century opera house to meet 21st-century standards. A challenge full of technical and human stakes — a great leap through time!
Throughout the final artistic season before it closes for renovations, “A Special Year at the Opera-Theatre” tells a human and collective story alongside the teams who passionately dedicate themselves to creating performances.
They are living their final moments in this Opera-Theatre they cherish — for its heritage value, its artisanal and traditional techniques — each according to their own connection to the place, their profession, their generation.
How does each person face this transition and the changes to come — between the promise of a better working life in more spacious, functional areas, and the fear that inevitable modernity might strip the place of its soul?
