Synopsis
After her mother’s death, 18-year-old Ava is confronted with an immense void: the person who was supposed to help her grow is no longer there. She finds unexpected comfort in her cat Tobi… who talks to her. Their conversations, hovering on the edge of reality, become her new anchor, while at home her father withdraws and her younger brother shuts himself off.
Rooted in the everyday life of a high-school senior and punctuated with imaginative escapes, My Mother Is Dead and It’s Sad is a series that explores adolescent grief with a deliberately tragicomic tone.
