Carpooling, work, sleep

Written and directed by Guillaume Terver

Synopsis

Every day, thousands of men and women share a car ride. Sitting side by side, facing the road, in the confined space of the vehicle, they create a new space for sociability and intimacy, forming a kind of resistance to the modern world. The car's interior is a place of conversation ignored by all, yet it constitutes an essential link in the daily life of thousands of people.
The film is part of a cinematic approach focusing on the world of work and the France of roundabouts. This is the France that struggles with rising energy and food prices. It is a hardworking population that, to find cheaper housing, lives far from workplaces and cannot live without a car. It is a silent population that attracts little political interest and is often trapped in stereotypes.
