Carnival In Oruro, The Sacred Dance

Directed by Juan José Lozano

Synopsis

Oruro, located on the Bolivian highlands at an altitude of more than 3700 meters, is preparing for the most festive occasion of the year. The carnival participants, dressed in refined costumes and outrageous looking traditional masks, follow a route several kilometers long for several hours in tribute to the Virgin of the Socavon, the patron saint of the Carnival, to the rhythm of the "Diablada", a music that embodies the spirit of the Andeans.
