Directed by Attilio Cossu
In the center of Sardinia, in the secret mountainous enclave of Barbagia, this carnival is a unique opportunity in the year for small isolated villages to open their doors to the curiosity of outsiders and to re-establish social cohesion within their communities. While the men and children are busy preparing huge bonfires, making wooden masks and putting the final touches to costumes that celebrate their rural roots, the women prepare traditional pastries and prepare to welcome the costumed festival participants into their homes to drink local wines.
