Tibet vs. China

Written and directed by François Reinhardt and Aurine Crémieu

Synopsis

On July 6th 2023, the Dalai Lama celebrated his 88th birthday. For Tibetans, the time is ripe for concern as China intends to choose themselves their next spiritual leader. What will become of Tibet’s identity? And what will be the repercussions of this event throughout the world?
China has now occupied Tibet for more than 70 years. There, Xi Jinping’s government pursues a strict Sinicizing policy, controlling and depriving people of their freedom of belief and expression. Amongst the Tibetan diasporas across the globe, fear keeps on increasing. Beyond the Buddhist community, all the great political powers also fear what comes next.
Thanks to the participation of experts and politicians, this film deciphers the causes and consequences of this highly complex and alarming situation on the geopolitical scene, while unveiling moving testimonies of those exiles wishing for freedom and independence.
