Those children who don’t speak

Written and directed by Éva Poirier & Philippe Pichon

Synopsis

Being the one who doesn’t speak at school. Trying to say a word. Failing. Being alone. Powerless.
In France, it is estimated that over 60,000 children suffer from selective mutism… A type of anxiety disorder, the symptom of which is an inability to speak with certain people or in certain anxiety-provoking situations.
Clément, 10 years old, and Cataleya, 4 years old, both benefit from a pedagogical method that has helped some children overcome this challenge and has restored hope to parents…
In the daily lives of these two children, the voices of Julie and Pétronille resonate. Now young adults, they remember the struggle they went through to find their voices, to simply speak like everyone else…
